Get your goggles, bikes and run shoes ready! Give your kids a fun, active multi-sport lifestyle! Sessions begin April 2014.

Multi-Sport Training Sessions for Kids
  • Certified, experienced coaches passionate about working with youth
  • 3 - 4 coached practices a week
  • At least one swim, one bike, and one run session each week (multiple sports in one day later in season)
  • Fun activities and education on form, fitness, and strength in all disciplines
  • Each session includes "on the way" fun races and culminates with a fun, multi-sport event for all skill, experience and confidence levels
  • 3 and 5 week sessions April through October

Why

Fun learning environment where kids are introduced to or develop new skills in the wonderful world of multi-sport! Being active helps kids learn valuable skills for sport, and life. Movement also helps the mind rest and release stress, as well as activate the brain in different ways.

Skills Development Group
Kids learn
  • Proper form and how to train in each of the disciplines of swim, bike, run, as well as strength, flexibility, agility and how to move
  • How to set up a transition area
  • How to change a bike tire
  • How to ride safely and comfortably near other riders
  • Basic nutrition education including everyday eating, hydration, and race and training eating
  • Confidence, time management, self respect, respect for others, belief in one's self, integrity, focus, patience, and other skills useful for sport, and life
Basic Requirements
  • Must be age 5 to 18. No need to have any kind of athletic experience. Beginners welcome and encouraged to attend.
  • Sunglasses, hat, and water bottle full of water at each practice.
  • Swim: Must be able to swim at least 25 yards freestyle with any type of form. Must be independent in the water, coaches will not be in the pool.
  • Bike: Must bring a working helmet purchased in the last year, and a working bike. Must be able to ride independently with no training wheels.
  • Run: Good pair of run shoes. Non-cotton socks and run shirt and shorts.

Racing Group
Basic Requirements

Anyone wishing to be on the TVTC Kids Racing Group needs to have the following qualifications:

  • Ages 8 - 18
  • Have completed at least one session in the TVTC Kids Skills Development Group
  • Have an attitude of inclusion. You are only as good as the people around you.
  • Okayed to join from a TVTC Kids Club coach.
Attendance

To get better you have to practice. We require youth triathletes in the TVTC Kids Racing Group to commit to 5-week sessions, and have a 90% attendance rate.

Skills

A good triathlete trains hard. A great triathlete trains smart. A great triathlete is always learning, and applying those lessons to his or her racing. We continue to learn new skills, and build those skills into our training and racing through each practice, session, season, and triathlon career.

Register for 3 week or 5 week sessions that work for you! We'll place each child in the group most appropriate based on experience, incoming skills, and coach's assessment.

Note: High school age members racing for Wildflower, CIT, Oakland, or other open water and/or Adult Team Schedule races will have some additional open water swim and other bike and/or run practices, or can register for the Adult Team Membership.

Fine Print

Refunds only given in special circumstances including medical emergency which prevents the child from continuing athletics. Refund based on date reported in writing to TVTC. No refunds given if the child misses a practice or goes on vacation. No refunds given at end of session date.
